Pet Tracking by Snaptracs Gets Distribution Deal

January 16, 2012

Snaptracs, a Qualcomm company, has a distribution agreement for its GPS pet-tracking device, Tagg–The Pet Tracker. Audiovox Electronic Corp will market and distribute the product to retail outlets. Tagg was a Consumer Electronics Show 2012 Design & Innovation Award Honoree in the personal electronics product category. With rollout planned during the first quarter of 2012, Audiovox will market and distribute Tagg to its network of national big box retailers, regional retail distribution partners, and pet supply retailers in the U.S.

Snaptracs has also announced new pricing structures and mobile capabilities for Tagg. After assessing customer feedback, Tagg restructured its pricing to reduce the initial upfront cost. The Tagg First Pet master kit is now available for $99.95, which includes one month of free service; service thereafter is $7.95 per month. There is a discount for additional pets.

Tagg enables pet owners to locate their pets from their mobile phones. Available now for iPhone and Android users, the Tagg app enables pet owners to locate pets on a map using the mobile app on their mobile phones, track their whereabouts and get driving directions to their current location from their phone. The app also locates nearby pet-related places such as vets, dog parks and pet stores.

In addition to the CES Innovations & Design Honoree Award win, the device has also been awarded with a Men’s Journal magazine “Gear of the Year” award and a CTIA “Hot for the Holidays” award in the Globetrotter category.
