Safran Electronics & Defense has released the MS500 Series, a new generation of high-performance MEMS accelerometers designed for defense and industrial markets requiring precise and reliable inertial sensing.

Leveraging more than 30 years of innovation in sensor design and inertial algorithms, Safran Electronics & Defense has developed an ITAR-free solution that combines tactical-grade performance, 200 µg RMS precision over the full operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, digital output, and optimized SWaP-C for demanding applications.

“The MS500 Series demonstrates Safran’s ability to continuously push the boundaries of MEMS inertial sensing,” said Mickaël Linares, MEMS Program Manager at Safran Electronics & Defense. “Combining our latest MEMS innovations with advanced closed-loop electronics and decades of inertial expertise, the MS500 delivers the accuracy, robustness and compactness required by the next generation of defense and industrial systems.”

Engineered for harsh and mission-critical environments, the MS500 Series is currently undergoing qualification in accordance with MIL-STD requirements. Its combination of precision, compact size, and robust design makes it ideally suited for missile guidance systems, drones and unmanned platforms, inertial navigation systems (INS), and high-end industrial monitoring and stabilization applications.

As defense and industrial operators face growing challenges from degraded, jammed, or unavailable GNSS signals, the MS500 Series contributes to maintaining reliable positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) performance in GNSS-denied environments through stable and accurate acceleration measurements.
