SPH Engineering has opened applications for its first Global Drone Operations Awards, an international program recognizing drone projects that address complex challenges in surveying, inspection, mapping and other industrial applications.

The awards highlight drone operations that use advanced workflows, specialized sensors and integrated systems to support decision-making across four sectors: mining and exploration, oil and gas, construction and engineering, and academia and research.

The program aims to showcase projects in which drones deliver measurable operational benefits beyond traditional aerial imaging and mapping, including improvements in data quality, safety and field efficiency.

“As drones become integral tools for collecting operational data, they are helping organizations make better business and engineering decisions,” said Alexey Dobrovolskiy, CEO of SPH Engineering. “These awards recognize the teams demonstrating what advanced drone workflows can accomplish while helping more industries understand their value.”

Entries will be evaluated by a panel of industry experts based on technical complexity, innovation, data quality, operational execution and measurable project outcomes.

Finalists and winners will receive industry recognition and will be invited to an awards event in Budapest in Oct. 2026. The event will also feature discussions on field-tested workflows, lessons learned and best practices for advanced drone operations.

The awards are intended to promote broader adoption of drones as tools for collecting data in remote, hazardous and difficult-to-access environments, where they can improve safety, reduce costs and streamline field operations.
