Multipath makes it difficult to detect very low-frequency structural vibrations, ranging from 0.05 to 1 Hz, important in characterizing dynamic loads and determining safe structural lifetimes. The authors have developed a phase-residual method for use with very high-frequency data to distinguish receiver noise, multipath, and the periodic displacements that are most structurally significant. The methodology can apply to bridges, tall buildings, and towers. Read more»
