August 13, 2008
AnyDATA Corp. has unveiled its AnyTrack GPS-120, a real-time theft prevention and inventory management tracker designed to minimize fuel and operating costs of heavy equipment, as well as theft or unauthorized use, the company says.
The cost of heavy equipment theft, according AnyDATA, which cited the National Equipment Register 2007 Equipment Theft Report, ranges between $300 million and $1 billion per year. "The AnyTrack GPS-120, paired with the AnyTrack Real-Time Tracking System, silently monitors and reports the location of high-value mobile equipment, such as skid steer loaders, backhoe loaders, and tractors, anywhere in the U.S., to help reduce theft and unauthorized use," said Charles Napier, AnyDATA general manager for North America. "Business owners can monitor equipment locations through secure access to the AnyTrack system via any PC connected to the Internet." No special software is needed, according to the company.
In addition to configurable geofencing and automatic tracking, the GPS-120 also offers locate-on-demand and location history functions, according to the company. The device is connected to the equipment's 12V power and includes an internal battery to power the device when the ignition is turned off.
The AnyTrack family of devices, including the new GPS-120, use assisted-GPS technology, and can be detected and tracked even when the device cannot detect GPS satellites, the company said. The AnyTrack GPS-120 is priced at $229. Tracking service ranges from $11 per month to $19.95 per month.
