Handheld field controller technology has been expanded with the introduction of Topcon Positioning Systems’ FC-236, a rugged receiver and controller with added memory and fast network connectivity, Topcon announced.

“The FC-236 has all the advances available in handheld technology — more memory (4 GB) and additional RAM (256 MB) to enable fast software operation," said Scott Langbein, senior product manager.

The FC-236 has a Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system and includes a three megapixel autofocus camera, built-in Bluetooth wireless, and 3.5 G cellular connectivity. “Users won’t believe how fast they can connect to a GPS network using the FC-236,” Langbein said.

The controller has an IP67 rating and is waterproof and dustproof, which allows it to operate efficiently in harsh conditions.
