RFxpert Now Supports Circular Polarization

November 1, 2011

With the release of the Circular Polarization (CP) option, the RFxpert real-time antenna measurement system is now able to calculate the right and left hand circularly polarized patterns, according to maker EMSCAN. Antenna Designers and Wireless Engineers now can measure their CP (circularly polarized) antennas under a second at their lab bench without a need for an anechoic chamber, EMSCAN said.

The CP application will calculate and display axial ratio patterns. Access to both the left-hand and right-hand patterns enables identification of the orientation of the circular polarization, as well. This feature will allow designers of circularly polarized antenna to characterize the effectiveness of their design in seconds.

For existing customers of RFxpert, no change to their hardware is required. A software update to 3.2, including a custom configuration file for their system, is all that is required to support the separately purchased CP option and start CP measurements.

RFxpert Release 3.2 also presents not only more intuitive GUI but even more accurate TRP and EIRP measurements. Users will have access to the linear theta and phi patterns.
