Value of GPS Networks, Services Predicted to Rise

The worldwide value of GPS networks and services is forecast to rise from US $263 million in 2009 to US $504 million by 2013, according to a new report by Position One Consulting. The report is authored by Eric Gakstatter, who is also GPS World's Survey & Construction editor, and Rob Lorimer, GPS World's Professional OEM editor.

The report The Global Market for GNSS Augmentation, Infrastructure and Services 2009-2013 includes global trends and demand for precision GNSS Augmentation Infrastructure and Services, including CORS, RTK Networks, RTK Clusters, SBAS, and DGPS.

At the core of the 130-page report are five-year growth and financial projections with optimistic, realistic, and conservative scenarios to reflect current macro economic uncertainties.

“The adoption of precision GNSS products and services, particularly for machine control, are reaping impressive productivity gains for users," said Lorimer, managing director of Position One Consulting. “Many are opting to consume precise positioning services rather than operate their own reference stations, and this report analyzes that trend."
