Rosum, Intel Partner for TV-Based LBS

Rosum Corp. said today that it has signed a licensing and joint development agreement with Intel Corp. to enable indoor/outdoor detection of television broadcast signals for positioning and mobile location-based services (LBS).

As part of this agreement the two companies will cooperate in the development, marketing and distribution of future products for customers developing a wide range of terrestrial and mobile TV devices worldwide. "Rosum indoor/outdoor TV-location technology will enable a host of LBS for mobile users as well as delivery of relevant content and information that drive a positive user experience," said Skip Speaks, Rosum CEO.

As part of this agreement, Rosum has licensed some of its TV-location technologies to Intel. The companies have also agreed to jointly market and distribute these products globally for use in mobile Internet devices, mobile phones, handheld consumer devices and other similar devices.

"Intel is committed to delivering the most innovative, reliable terrestrial and handheld TV products to its customers," said Robert Ferreira, general manager of the Demodulator and Tuner Division at Intel. "The combination of our TV technology with the TV-location technology of Rosum will provide a unique and exciting capability for mobile solutions."
