Nav N Go, Clear Channel Partner on Traffic Data Service

October 22, 2008

Navigation software supplier Nav N Go and Clear Channel Radio (CCR) are partnering to integrate real-time traffic data from CCR's Total Traffic Network into Nav N Go's software for the OEM portable navigation device (PND) market.

"A large portion of the PND makers we work with use Clear Channel Radio's Total Traffic Network so creating this bundle makes perfect sense," said Attila Kátai, Nav N Go chief content officer.

Nav N Go says it develops software for more than 70 manufacturers of PNDs, smartphones, handheld game consoles, and in-car navigation systems. Its list of PND manufacturers includes Asus Computer GmbH, Clarion Europe GmbH, Pioneer Europe NV, and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, according to the company.

Clear Channel Radio's Total Traffic Network provides traffic information for 125 metropolitan areas in four countries, serving more than more than 500,000 paid subscribers, according to the company. Its customers include BMW, Mini USA, and Volvo, all offering subscription-free services, as well as device makers Asus, Garmin, TomTom, Navigon, Mio Technology, Delphi, Kenwood, Clarion, Harmon Kardon, Panasonic, Siemens, and Cobra Electronics, among others.

Navigation devices featuring Nav N Go software will offer CCR's traffic service as a free trial for the first 90 days.
