MWC: AtlasCT Unwraps AtlasMobile SDK 3.0
February 14, 2008Israel's Atlas Cartographic Technologies Ltd. (AtlasCT), released version 3.0 of its AtlasMobile Software Development Kit (SDK) for mobile-based maps and location-based applications development, the company said Wednesday.
The AtlasMobile SDK, the development tool for the company's AtlasMobile platform, is a client-side set of components that can implement a variety of mapping capabilities and geospatial services, according to AtlasCT. Its modular and open architecture enables flexibility in application development, the company said. The SDK is available for Java ME and for Windows Mobile (.NET Compact Framework) environments.
Version 3.0 provides additional features and enhanced functionality, including:
- a high-quality interactive map (based on Navteq data) with quick panning and zooming.
- search capability for addresses, local points-of-interest (POIs) and driving directions.
- support for worldwide street maps, satellite imagery and hybrid maps.
- custom layers and dynamic content display.
- GPS support for both internal and external receivers.
- keypad and touch screen support.
- support for plug-ins and widget functionality.
This latest version of the SDK also utilizes AVS, AtlasCT’s propriety technology specially optimized for mobile devices. It also supports a range of standard raster and vector formats including SVGT and Adobe Flash Lite.
"This new version of the AtlasMobile SDK offers high flexibility in deploying and porting Web 2.0 applications with advanced mapping capabilities," said Danny On, AtlasCT vice president of marketing and business development. "Developers can now build location-based services (LBS) for mobile devices, in a way that has never been so easy and powerful; we believe it will take location-based applications to a new level of performance and user experience."
The company also noted that AtlasMobile SDK drove three of the 12 Navteq Global LBS Challenge finalists for Navteq's European competition, as announced this week at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.
