GyPSii Offered on Intel Atom-based Mobile Internet Devices
August 21, 2008Northern Europe's GeoSentric Oyj, providers of mobile social networking platform GyPSii, is optimizing the software for Moblin-based mobile Internet devices based on the Intel Atom processor Z5XX series.
Moblin is a version of the Linux open-source operating system designed for mobile devices; Intel's Z5XX series of process, just introduced in April, are the chipmaker's advanced mobile processors built with 45 nanometer transistors.
"Social networking and location-based service trends comprise a significant share of the Internet traffic today and are appealing to mobile Internet device users. GyPSii's social networking application is well positioned to capitalize on these industry trends," said Pankaj Kedia, director of Global ecosystem programs for Intel's Ultra Mobility Group.
GyPSii's applications and services were featured in Intel's keynote at the Intel Developers Forum, held this week in San Francisco. In addition to Moblin, GyPSii supports mobile Internet devices running Windows XP and Windows Vista platforms. GyPSii also supports Symbian, Windows Mobile, and BlackBerry devices, as well as the Apple iPhone and browser-based Internet connected devices.
