Questex Media Appoints Don Jewell as Contributing Editor to Military & Government E-mail Newsletter

March 21, 2007

NEWTON, Mass., March 21, 2007— GPS World, the premier global media brand dedicated to global navigation and positioning technologies, has appointed Don Jewell as the dedicated editor of its monthly newsletter, Military & Government PNT (positioning, navigation and timing).

Don Jewell joins the extended team of contributing editors for GPS World after more than thirty years in the United States Air Force, where he was involved with GPS systems from their inception, either as a test system evaluator, or user. He served as a Commander at Schriever Air Force Base, the home of GPS, and retired as the Deputy Chief Scientist at Air Force Space Command. He then spent seven years as a senior marketer for two large government contractors dealing in GPS software and hardware.

Jewell currently serves on two independent GPS review teams that he helped found, and on four independent assessment teams that frequently deal with GPS issues for the U.S. government. He has served on numerous Air Force and Defense Scientific Advisory Boards and writes extensively on technical issues.

Designed to keep key purchasers and industry leaders abreast of global navigation and positioning-related news and emerging technologies, Military & Government PNT (Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) email newsletter will deliver expert perspective and breaking stories centered around policy, technical, and product developments. Specific coverage includes security and surveillance, precision guidance of munitions, war fighter equipment, aviation and space, hazardous materials tracking, and navigation of military platforms.

The next edition of Military & Government PNT will focus on "The Perfect Military GPS System." This topic will serve as a foundation for a series of articles over the next several months to define in detail what properties the perfect military/government handheld GPS unit should contain. He will consider both the user equipment (UE) and the capabilities resident on the satellite vehicle (SV), and payload, because whatever users want or need on the UE side must be supported by the SV and payload.
