Mobile Solutions Launchs Locator Phone Based on u-blox GPS Design
February 11, 2010
Mobile Solutions AG, a Swiss provider of products, concepts and solutions in the field of mobile communications, announces the launch of Creon, a GSM mobile phone with GPS locator capabilities. Based on u-blox’ GSM reference design N709Q and u-blox’ GPS receiver NEO-5G, the Creon is designed in Switzerland.
The phone transmits GPS location on demand to a rapid response service, and is being offered by the Red Cross throughout the European Union. The large character color display facilitates personal aid for the elderly, infirm, or outdoor sports enthusiasts by summoning assistance to their precise location at the touch of a button, Mobile Solutions said.
“Providing community support services in times of need is one of the Red Cross’ most important mandates.” said Beat Braendle, CEO of mobile solutions. “With the help of u-blox’ N709Q wireless reference design, we have created a robust mobile phone with high-performance locator capabilities. With our service provider partners, Creon means help can be summoned at the touch of a button, no matter where you are.”
Creon provides tri-band (900/1800/1900) GSM/GPRS capabilities. The phone comes with charger cradle, and supports three-day battery operation with GPS active (one week with GPS inactive). Mobile Solutions provides Creon to partners such as the Red Cross who are able to offer complete services and support.
