National Space Symposium, Day 3: OCX and GPS III
April 10, 2008From GPS World correspondent Don Jewell's blog:
“The GPS OCX program is in a head-to-head competition between Raytheon and Northrup Grumman. That competition still has 12 months to go before a final down-select. The SECAF feels the competition is progressing as planned and looks for an award about this time next year.
“I then asked Secretary Wynne about the GPS III award which everyone thought was to have been awarded last week. I tried my best to pin him down, but Secretary Wynne jokingly reminded me that he is an old hand at major acquisition programs and he knows better than to specify a date for an award; so although I could not get him to say the GPS III award would be made by the 17th of April, he did commit to making the award announcement by the end of April.”
