Frank van Diggelen Introduces Moore's Law
April 8, 2010 By: Alan CameronFrank van Diggelen, senior technical director, GPS systems, for Broadcom Corporation sets the stage for the following three videos: Moore's Law as it relates to GNSS.
Moore‘s Law, formulated in 1965, postulates that chip capacity doubles every two years. GNSS chips have followed this trend over the last 20 years, and highly integrated GNSS chips are currently manufactured in 65-nanometer CMOS technology. How long will Moore‘s Law continue? What will be the integration level that we will have in 2020-plus? What will be the performance of chips and die in future in terms of power consumption, processing power, and size?
Van Diggelen assembled a panel of speakers to address this topic at the Munich Satellite Navigation Summit held in March, 2010. To view brief recaps of the other speakers' presentations, return to the main video page and click the photos of Neil Gerein, Greg Turetzky, and Charles Abraham, immediately below Frank's photo.
