Mentor Engineering Inks Deal with Tele Atlas for Maps

November 5, 2008

Mentor Engineering has signed an agreement with Tele Atlas in which it will provide digital maps for Mentor's navigation software packages, including Mentor Streets, Mentor IntelliFleet, and the navigation module of Mentor Ranger.

Tele Atlas digital maps will add points of interest and landmarks to Mentor Engineering software, as well the option of map organization by county.

Mentor Streets is a fixed-route software package which enables public transit authorities to provide answers to customer questions like "where’s my bus," improved access to real-time route and schedule information, and more efficient dispatching, according to Mentor. Streets also includes modules for in-vehicle mobile computing, computer-aided dispatch and automatic vehicle location, incident management, and schedule and route adherence. IntelliFleet is the company's automated dispatch system specifically designed for taxi services.

Mentor Ranger is the company's a rugged, in-vehicle mobile computer, which will now use Tele Atlas maps in its navigation module, which provides turn-by-turn directions to drivers.
