Hemisphere GPS Announces R131 DGPS Receiver

September 2, 2010

Today, Hemisphere GPS announced the availability of the R131 DGPS receiver — a rack-mountable addition to its R100 Series of DGPS receivers. R131 allows for consistent sub-meter performance with standard SBAS differential and Hemisphere GPS’ exclusive COAST technology which maintains accuracy during temporary loss of differential signal, the company said.

R131 provides new and convenient physical advantages, including a new design with a rack mountable enclosure, front facing display, 1PPS output via an SMA connector, and a soft power switch in lieu of the traditional mechanical power switch. The soft switch allows for ease of use when turning the R131 on/off when the R131 is rack mounted, Hemisphere GPS said. In addition to the new features, Hemisphere GPS has added a new metal power connector that provides a durable connection.

“The R131 provides customers with a convenient, feature-packed rack-mountable DGPS solution,“ said Phil Gabriel, vice president and general manager, Precision Products, for Hemisphere GPS. “This adds even more value to our already successful R100 Series of DGPS receivers and has already resulted in a major order from India, with the R131 being the major component in a million-dollar sale.”

The R131 offers many differential correction options such as SBAS, OmniSTAR, radio-beacon, and e-Dif for various environments and worldwide coverage. It is also RTK upgradable. With a simple user interface and extensive software features, the R131 was designed for professional mapping, guidance, and navigation applications, the company said.
